Yes it’s true, this is no shock. Microsoft is definitely a monopoly. And enough is enough They’ve put COUNTLESS software vendors out of business. Netscape, remember them? They used to make a server and a browser. Until M$ put them out of business. The effect of this continuing is worse software for all of us.
There’s nothing wrong with competition, but their tactics are not competitive, they are illegal. There are countless publications that prove this step by step. And what’s worse is the US Federal Government is their biggest customer. And hence hypocrite. A close second are the state and local governments. So in reality OUR TAX dollars are contributing to the monopoly. The EU seemed like they were starting to get it right. As were we until this administration dropped the case. Now honestly here, I wouldn’t be ranting about this if the made good software, but they don’t. There software is horribly pathetic.
What’s better is the License agreement for their game console prohibits writing the same exact game for multiple platforms. You must have at least 10 points of difference. If I were writing the software I would take that to mean leaving out 10 fun items on their console and including them on other platforms.
But somehow I don’t think that’s what they mean.
I’m hearing all the SAME CRAP about Windows Vespa that we heard about XP from the Windows people. “I’m not upgrading, yack yack yack.”. Sure. Just like no one went to XP.
What can you do? My friends in these times, we have MANY options.
- Get a MAC instead of “upgrading” to Windows Vespa
- Try BSD - PCBSD is pretty simple. http://www.pcbsd.org/
- Try a Linux distribution. Many are simple to install. Ubuntu seems to be the simple choice as of late. As they say, Linux for Human Beings.
You say: What? I can’t do that! Yes you can. This server is completely microsoft free. As is my MacBook. You have choices.
